163rd Aero Squadron

The 163rd Aero Squadron, which was a De Havilland DH-4 squadron for the 2nd Day Bombardment Group. This Group was organized on 1 November 1918. The group was ready for operations by 9 November but bad weather prevented them from flying any bombing missions before the Armistice.

 
169th Aero Squadron
The 169th Aero Squadron did not go Overseas and did not see any combat/front line action in WWI. The 169th trained at Hazelhurst Field #2, which was located at Nassau County, Hempstead Plains, NY. Hazelhurst Field was originally called Camp Black which operated from 1898, to 1917, and in 1917, it was renamed Hazelhurst Field in 1917, in honor of Leighton Hazelhurst the first U.S. Army NCO killed in an aviation accident.--Thank you to John Vargas for this info.


375th Aero Squadron


486th Aero Squadron

The 486th Aero Squadron was a construction unit that served in the Air Construction Center No. 2 at Romorantin, France.

 


638th Aero Squadron
The 638th Aero Squadron was a Pursuit Squadron assigned to the 5th Pursuit Group, 2nd Army on 28 October 1918. The squadron didn't get a chance to participate in combat actions before the war ended.
